Basketball Season Begins, 'Cats Tip Off at Furman Friday

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's basketball team tips off their 2015-16 season this Friday evening on the road when they head to play Furman at 5 p.m. in Timmons Arena.
This is the second year in a row the two teams have opened the season against each other, with both games taking place at Furman. Their rivalry dates all the way back to 1974.
Friday's game for the Wildcats will be the first of seven straight road games that has them playing at Wake Forest, N.C. State, High Point, a tournament at UNC Wilmington and at Radford.
OPENING TIP: Quick Hits ...
•Davidson is in its 37th season and reached the 400-win mark last year at Gardner-Webb.
•The 'Cats are in their second year in the Atlantic 10 after a 21-year run in the SoCon.
•The Wildcats were picked to finish 14th in the A-10 Coaches Preseason Poll.
•Davidson returns nine letterwinners and all five of its starters from last year's 5-25 team (1-14 A-10).
