SAINT LOUIS, Mo. - Filip Pavisic's header off a set piece in the 54th minute lifted Saint Louis to a 1-0 victory over Davidson in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action Saturday night at Hermann Stadium.
The setback drops the Wildcats to 5-7-3 overall and 2-4-0 in league play, while the Billikens win their third straight to improve to 7-5-2 and 3-1-2.
"A very tight and typical conference battle with good defending, so not a lot of clear chances to score for either team," said Davidson head coach Matt Spear. "Tough to lose on a set piece with lots of pushing in the box. Overall we defended very well and they were threatening just by set pieces."
"We put more numbers forward to score an equalizer, but were unable to get it done."
Faik Hajderovic assisted Pavisic's eventual game-winner and fifth strike of the season.
The opening half was rather quiet as the two teams combined for just seven shots before going to the break scoreless.
Saint Louis held a 11-7 edge in shots, while Matt Pacifici led both keepers with three saves for the Wildcats.
