DAVIDSON, N.C. – Coming off a 2-1 (2OT) win at St. Bonaventure a week ago, Davidson returns to Alumni Stadium Wednesday for a 7 p.m. kickoff against league-foe Saint Joseph's.
"We look forward to hosting St. Joe's," said Davidson head coach Matt Spear. "These A-10 games certainly add extra spice – and we appreciate and embrace the added relevance. But the key is for us to focus on our preparation and aim for a peak performance through the full 90 minutes."
"What we can control is our attitude, unity and work ethic. A goal is to get into the "alpha zone" when we are truly competitive each and every play. That way we can better reach our "11 Defend, 11 Attack" mantra."
The Wildcats enter 4-6-3 overall and 1-3-0 in A-10 play, while the Hawks come in 3-9-2 and 1-2-1 following a 1-1 (2OT) draw with George Mason in Philadelphia over the weekend.
Shane Macnamara, who put Davidson up 1-0 in its win over the Bonnies, is tied with Valeriy Sviderskiy and Alec Rotunda for the team-lead in goals with three each.
Following a late score by St. Bonaventure to force overtime, Cort Coxhead scored in the 106th minute to give the Wildcats their first league win of 2015.
Emmanuel Temeh has scored five of St. Joe's 14 goals this season, including a pair of game-winners.
In last year's meeting, Maxi Pragnell and Sviderskiy scored 29 seconds apart early in the second half to lift Davidson to a 3-0 win on Nov. 6.
