DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson will kick-off its 2015 Atlantic 10 slate Saturday evening when George Washington visits Alumni Stadium for a 7 p.m. contest.
"We very much look forward to hosting George Washington to kick off A-10 action," said Davidson head coach Matt Spear. "As usual, our focus is on our "Prepare > Perform" mantra as we aim to be at our peak for each match, regardless of the opponent. But as a conference game, the game will have an added edge."
Riding a school-record 16-match home-unbeaten streak, the Wildcats enter 3-3-3 overall following a 2-2 (2ot) draw with Duke Tuesday.
In addition, Davidson is unbeaten in its last six games (4-0-2) against ACC competition dating back to 2013.
After Maxi Pragnell gave the Wildcats an early 1-0 lead with his first strike of the season, while Alec Rotunda provided a 74th minute equalizer against the Blue Devils.
Valeriy Sviderskiy and Rotunda lead the Davidson attack with three goals and seven total points each.
All three of Rotunda's goals have come off the bench and have either been game-winning or tying.
A year ago, the Wildcats and George Washington played to a 1-1 (2ot) tie in our Nation's Capital. This marks just the fourth time the two teams have met on the pitch.
Coming off a 4-1 win over Robert Morris, the Colonials are 3-5-0 overall.
George Washington is led by Garrett Heine, who ranks second among league leaders in goals (5/2nd), assists (3/3rd), game-winning goals (3/1st) and total points (13/2nd).
"I warmly welcome alumni back for Homecoming Weekend, as we are very much a program and a tradition dependent on Pride, Passion, and Progress," Spear said. "Soccer alumni can email me to remind me they will be with us Saturday night, including a pre-game gathering at our "Soccer Parents Patio".
