Coxhead’s Golden Goal Lifts ‘Cats Over Bonnies, 2-1

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Cort Coxhead scored in the 106th minute to lift Davidson to a 2-1 victory at St. Bonaventure in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon at Marra Athletics Fields Complex.
A defender from Norcross, Ga., Coxhead slipped the golden-goal past the Bonnies' reserve goalkeeper Luke Lacobellis from about 18 yards out following a Christian Fechter free kick. Classmate Nathan Marder assisted Coxhead's second career goal.
With the win, the Wildcats improve 4-6-3 overall and 1-3-0 in the A-10, while the Bonnies fall to 1-12-1 and 0-3-0.
Davidson, which entered scoreless in its previous two contests, grabbed the early 1-0 lead with a goal from Shane Macnamara. The senior's third strike of the season came in the 17th minute off a shot from 25 yards out into the lower left corner.
Junior Maxi Pragnell had a number of scoring chances putting six of his nine total shots on frame.
With 13:17 left in regulation, Jimmy Barrios beat a defender and provided an equalizer off the far post to force overtime.
The Wildcats finished with a 16-11 advantage in shots, while both teams attempted three corners.

Davidson will enjoy a week break before returning to the pitch for a 7 p.m. contest with league-foe Saint Joseph's at Alumni Stadium.
