Black Out Richardson Stadium
• Fans are encouraged to wear black in support of the Wildcats. The team is wearing all black uniforms this season.
• A limited supply of special black t-shirts are available for students on a first-come, first-serve basis.

4 Downs
• 1st - Davidson snapped a 12-game losing streak overall, and a six-game losing streak in season openers, with its 56-0 victory over College of Faith last Saturday.
• 2nd - Although separated by just 30 miles, this is the first meeting between Davidson and Catawba since 1987.
• 3rd - The last time Davidson won its first two games of the season, it went on to win the rest (2000).
• 4th - J.P. Douglas won the starting QB job and completed 10-of-11 passes for 128 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for another in just one half of action last week.
• XP - This is both the final night game and final non-conference game at Richardson Stadium this season.

A Davidson win would . . .
• Give the 'Cats their first back-to-back wins since 2011, when it accomplished the feat twice.
• Snap a three-game skid against Catawba for its first win over the Indians since 1984.

Big Start
• Davidson was able to play every fully healthy player on its roster in its season opening victory over College of Faith.
• The win snapped a 12-game losing streak for Davidson, and was its first shutout since defeating Campbell 49-0 in 2008. It was also the first time the Wildcats had surpassed 50 points since scoring 50 against Butler in 2006.
• It was also Paul Nichols' first win as head coach.
• Davidson scored six touchdowns in the first half for a 43-0 lead, and added two more in the second half. The Wildcats rushed for 355 yards led by David Rogers, who ran for a career-high 116 yards on 13 carries.
Series Record
• Davidson holds a 16-5 all-time series record with Catawba, but the Indians won the last three meetings, with the final one taking place in 1987.
• The 27-year hiatus is the longest in the series.
• Davidson shutout Catawba in its first two meetings in 1910 and 1911, but did not play Catawba again until 1934, with Davidson earning another shutout victory.
• After a 20-year break the teams met annually for 10 straight seasons. The first game of the series was played in 1954 in Davidson, but then the next nine games were played in Charlotte.
• After the 1963 game, the teams did not meet again until 1979. They then met annually from 1981-87.

Scouting Catawba
• This will be the Indians' season opener.
• Catawba was picked sixth in the South Atlantic Conference coaches poll while placing four players (Jason Taylor, Corey Littlejohn, David Burgess and Taylor Fender) on the preseason all-conference teams.
• Undrafted NFL rookie and Catawba alum LJ McCray made the final cut for the 53-man roster in San Francisco. He is a back-up safety for the 49ers and will see action on special teams.
• Catawba College is located in nearby Salisbury, N.C., about 30 miles and 40-45 minutes away.

Honorary Captain
• This week's captain is Dave Barnard '79, a 2005 recipient of the James P. Hendrix Award.
• He was a 5-10, 180-pound halfback from Gainsville, Fla., who lettered in 1977 and 1978. He was regarded as one of the best blocking backs on the team and noted for his tremendous work ethic to become a better football player.
• Barnard totaled 134 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries in his career, which included a 79-yard touchdown run against Randolph Macon on his first play of that game.
• The 1977 Davidson football media guide notes that he was active in the student government association, serving as the sophomore class president, and that he enjoyed playing classical guitar.
