2014 NCAA Division I Men's East Region Qualifying List

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson men's track senior Andrew Lantz will compete in additional meets looking to improve his chances of qualifying for the NCAA East Region Championships, head coach Gary Andrew announced Monday.

Lantz is slated to compete in the Virginia Challenge on Saturday, May 10th in Charlottesville, Va., and the Wolfpack Last Chance Meet in Raleigh, N.C. on Friday, May 16.

His top 800-meter run time of 1 minute, 50.84 seconds, run this past Saturday in the preliminaries at the SoCon Outdoor Championship, presently ranks him 74th in the NCAA East Region.

The student-athletes that have posted season-best times that rank in the Top 48 of their respective event(s) and declare to compete in them qualify for the two NCAA regional championship meets (East and West). The deadline for running an eligible qualifying time is May 18, and the list of student-athletes, by event, who have been accepted to compete in each preliminary championships competition will be announced on Thursday, May 22.

Andrew, who is in his 28th and final season guiding the Wildcats, is looking to conclude his career by sending at least one runner to Regionals in each of his final three seasons.

Davidson was represented at last year's East Regional by Demetrio Pagonis '13 in the 10,000-meter run and Lantz in the 800m. Lantz advanced to the quarterfinals.

The 2013 NCAA East Region Championships will be contested May 29-31 in Jacksonville, Fla., hosted by the University of North Florida. The Top 12 runners in each event advance to the finals hosted by the University of Oregon, June 11-14.
