- The weekend matchup pits the top-two hitting and home run hitting teams in the Southern Conference against each other. Georgia Southern (.321) has hit 35 home runs to lead the nation, while Davidson (.310) has hit 23, which ranked seventh in the country entering the week. The Wildcats are looking to snap a 16-game skid against the Eagles.

- Davidson has won 11 out of its last 12 games overall and, at 14-7 is off to its best start through 21 games since going 15-6 in 1992.

- The Wildcats are 14-4 at Wilson Field this season, winning 12 their last 13 home games.  The 'Cats enter the series 12 games into a 16-game homestand.

- Davidson batters boast four of the Top-10 batting averages in the Southern Conference: 4. SS Sam Foy, .378; 6. OF Forrest Brandt, .373; and 9. 1B Ben Arkin, .361. They hold three of the top seven on-base percentages: 4. DH Ryan Lowe, .463; 6. Brandt, .458; and 7. Arkin, .446. The 'Cats also hold three of the Top-10 slugging percentages: 3. OF Nathan Becker, .647; 6. Brandt, .578; 9. Arkin, .561; and 10. Foy; .558.

- Foy is riding a 15-game hitting streak, while Lowe has reached base in all 21 games this season, and 24-straight dating back to last season.

- Since being held to one hit against Miami (Ohio), the Wildcats are batting .339 as a team with 12.2 hits per game in their 15 games since, led by Foy (.462) and Brandt (.421).

THE SERIES
VS. GEORGIA SOUTHERN: Davidson trails in the all-time series, which dates back to 1954, 18-83, and the Eagles have won the last 16 contests, sweeping the last five series dating back to 2009, and also defeating the Wildcats in the SoCon tournament in 2009. Davidson's last win over Georgia Southern was on April 20, 2008 at Wilson Field. The 'Cats split four games with the Eagles in 2004, going 1-2 during the regular season and winning their lone meeting in the SoCon tournament, while their last three-game series victory was in 1999. The only other was in 1995. Davidson has never swept a three-game series over the Eagles.

SCOUTING GEORGIA SOUTHERN
The Eagles are tops in the nation with 35 home runs, for an average of 1.34 per game, and eighth in the nation and tops in the Southern Conference with a .321 batting average as a team. Aaron Mizell has provided the bulk of the power, batting .378 (5th in SoCon) with nine home runs (1st in SoCon) and 30 RBIs (1st in SoCon), while Stryker Brown has five home runs (t-4th in SoCon) and 29 RBIs (t-2nd in SoCon) and a .362 average (8th in SoCon). LHP Sam Howard boasts a miniscule 1.43 ERA (2nd in SoCon) and 43 strikeouts (3rd in SoCon) in 37.2 innings (4th in SoCon) to go along with a 3-2 record. In SoCon action, the Eagles dropped two of three to Elon before taking two of three from Appalachian State last weekend. Their signature win so far this season was a 14-5 win over No. 13 Clemson.
 
NOTES
CRIME STOPPERS: Davidson leads the SoCon in pickoffs (8) and caught stealing (15). Nation and conference-leading base stealers Wofford (3/21-23) went 0-for-3 in stolen base attempts against the 'Cats. Catcher Daniel Gerow is tied for the SoCon lead with seven caught stealings.

RECORD STREAK: Davidson matched its longest single-season winning streak of nine games (3/2-3/21), first accomplished in 1904, and previously matched only once in 1964. It ended against Wofford (3/22) with a 20-7 defeat. The longest winning streak in program history is 10 games, set across the 1906 and 1907 seasons.

STRONG SOCON START:  Davidson has matched its best start in Southern Conference action, last accomplished in 2000 when the 'Cats also started 5-1.

MOONEY RISING: RHP Danny Mooney is seventh in the SoCon with a 2.18 ERA, and tops with opponents batting .167 against.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Davidson enters the week ranking second in the nation with 2.50 doubles per game, and 19th with 52 total on the season. 3B David Daniels ranks second in the SoCon and 18th in the nation with 10 doubles this season.

POWER SURGE: As a team, Davidson entered the week ranking seventh in the nation with 23 home runs, and fourth in the nation with 1.15 home runs per game.

SAVERS: Four different pitchers have combined for eight saves in Davidson's 14 wins. Senior RHP Michael Goldberg earned the first two of his career in back-to-back games against Wake Forest (3/19) and Wofford (3/21), and then closed out the Duke game (3/25). RHP Ryan Lowe went three innings against Wofford (3/23).  RHP Matt Saeta is tied with Goldberg with three saves, while freshman RHP Westin Whitmire earned one against North Carolina A&T (3/9).

BECKER BREAKS OUT: Nathan Becker started all 49 games last season for Davidson and totaled one home run and 14 RBIs. He has seven home runs and 20 RBIs in 17 games this season. He enters the week ranking seventh in the nation in home runs, and ranking first in the SoCon and third in the country with 0.41 homers per game.

'CATS VS. THE ACC: Davidson is 2-3 against ACC teams this season. The Wildcats opened their season at Wake Forest and allowed an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth inning before ultimately losing, 4-3, in the 12th inning. Davidson was also competitive against No. 6 NC State, losing 7-5, and also faced No. 15 North Carolina (L, 3-13). The 'Cats earned their first ACC win since sweeping Duke in 2012 against Wake Forest (3/19), 7-6, and then defeated Duke (3/25), 3-2, to start another home-and-home series. Davidson will conclude that series at Duke on Apr. 15.
