DAVIDSON, N.C. — In the midst of playing five of its next seven games at home, Davidson will host Elon this coming Saturday afternoon in women's lacrosse at Richardson Stadium.
The Opening Draw Control
Davidson (1-5, 0-0 Big South) continues its non-conference slate of games by hosting Elon (4-5, 1-0 Atlantic Sun), which is in its first year of women's lacrosse, Saturday at 2 p.m. The Wildcats are playing their second of five home games in a seven-game span.
Elon is playing its fourth road game in the past five contests, with its lone home game having come Wednesday vs. Longwood. During the stretch, the Phoenix have played Coastal Carolina, North Carolina and Campbell on the road.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
This will be first meeting between both programs as Elon is in its first year of having women's lacrosse.

Record Watch, Closing in on More Records
Junior Emily Cooke is close to breaking yet another record this year, after setting a pair of single-season marks a year ago in points (87) and assists (55). She is just two assists from breaking the program's all-time record for a career, passing Linda Rothemund's total of 77, which was set from 1996-99.
Cooke dished out her team-leading 13th assist (2nd in Big South) last Sunday in a defeat to Villanova at home.
Weekly Honors
Freshman Katherine Rueger won the Wildcats' first Big South weekly award, taking home the Crons Brand Rookie of the Week, March 10.

DAVIDSON — The Wildcats were unable to overcome a late 3-0 run by Villanova in the second half in falling 8-6 at home on a rainy Sunday afternoon on March 16.

Davidson had tied the game at 5-all with just over 12 minutes to play, but VU scored three straight over the next three and a half minutes to take control of the game and eventually the win.

Ann Fucigna had her second multi-goal game of the season, scoring a pair to pace the Wildcats, while Emma Sissman, Nicole Pettiglio, Mary Leonard and Annie Brokett each scored a goal.

A steady rain fell for the entire game, forcing a slow pace for much of the afternoon. Four minutes in, Brockett's first collegiate goal gave Davidson a 1-0 lead. VU came back with a pair of its own goals, before Sissman had her 10th goal of the season for a 2-2 game with 19:45 left in the half.

Fucigna gave the 'Cats a 3-2 lead heading into the break with a score 21 seconds before the halftime horn.

The senior later tied things up at 5-all with 12:03 on the clock after Hetrick and Galvin went on their scoring spree to give VU a brief 5-3 lead.

Davidson's defense had a solid day, coming up with a season-best 10 caused turnovers and 19 groundballs, second-most on the year. Goalie Katy Boyle (five saves) and defender Maddy Sivilli had a career-high three caused turnovers each. Paige Logan scooped up a season-high five groundballs, while Boyle and Rebecca Garman add three apiece.

... ELON — The Elon women's lacrosse team maintained its perfect home record with a 15-4 victory over Longwood Wednesday evening.
The Phoenix outshot the Lancers, 31-13, and won the advantage at the draw, 13-8. Elon picked up 22 ground balls and finished 4-of-7 in free-position shots.
Seven players in the maroon and gold tallied points in the game as Anna Vitton led the way with four goals and one assist. Sloane Kessler scored three goals and assisted in two, while Olivia Fernandez posted three scores and Molly Garrigan finished with two goals and one assist.
Goalie Rachel Ramierz picked up her fourth win between the pipes with two saves, six ground balls and three caused turnovers.
The Phoenix rattled off the first five scores of the game, including two man-up opportunities, for a 5-0 lead at the 19:02 mark. The Lancers posted its first goal with 12:26 to play in the half before Vitton scored for the third time in the game on a free-position shot to make it a 6-1 Elon advantage.

Fernandez then netted back-to-back goals, including one on a free-position shot, followed by a score by Weissman to give the Phoenix a 9-1 lead at the break. Elon would add six more goals in the second half in cruising to the 11-goal win.Â
