WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior Alan Reiter provided a 62nd minute equalizer to lead Davidson to a 1-1 draw at George Washington in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action Sunday afternoon.
With the tie, the Wildcats conclude the regular season 10-2-5 overall and 4-2-2 in league play.
Reiter's team-leading eighth strike of the season came off a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box.
The Colonials got off to a fast start as Tobi Adewole put away a Garret Heine feed from the right wing at the 12:23 mark.
The two teams combined for 37 shots, but just 10 on goal, while George Washington (6-9-2, 2-4-2 A-10) held an 8-6 margin in corner kicks.
Despite finishing tied for fourth in the standings, Davidson will be the fifth seed in next week's conference tournament and will take on George Mason in the quarterfinals Thursday at 2 p.m. in Richmond, Va.
The Patriots edged Davidson 2-1 on a 95th minute penalty kick two weeks ago.

I give a lot of credit to George Washington. It was their Senior Day, they had to get a win to qualify for the Conference Tournament, and they played their hearts out. They are a physical, direct side, which really demanded all the muscle we had.
They scored a quality first goal so like many times this season, the group's belief and resilience rose to the occasion to earn a tie - and to remain unbeaten in our last five outings.
Our second half was better and Alan stepped up again with a great free kick goal. From there, the sense was we would go on as victors. Their keeper made a big-time save on another shot from Alan, their defender recovered to stop Maxi on a one vs. keeper and we could not quite get through on other drives forward.
George Washington continued to strive for the win and Matt stepped up with the huge save on their penalty kick.
It was a beautiful day in our nation's capitol. We had an awesome turn out of local alumni - including DC United's Alex Caskey - who are excited about the A-10 move so they can see their beloved Wildcats in person. The team really appreciates the support and enthusiasm. And it is personally very invigorating to see fellow soccer alumni - many with their own families - on the road. They are stoked with pride and passion about this team and our season. We are a program with a tight connection and long- lasting bond.
