Wildcats Host Ohio Northern at Belk Arena

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson wrestling squad returns to Belk Arena as the Wildcats play host to Ohio Northern Sunday. The match is set for 10 a.m.

Headlock on Hunger
The Davidson wrestling team will be supporting Headlock on Hunger, an initiative that aims to help provide food for children who are dealing with hunger at home. The team will be collected canned food throughout the season at all home matches. At the end of the season, the food collected will be brought to the Southern Conference Championship. Fans that donate canned food will have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes at select home matches.

Senior Kevin Birmingham placed third to highlight the Wildcat's performance, while Philip Elias reached the semifinals and Ian Solcz advanced to the quarterfinals in their respective weight classes at the Wolfpack Open a week ago.
At 149 lbs. Birmingham was knocked off in the semifinals before rebounding to take third place. Eilas finished with a 2-2 record at 125 lbs. after forfeiting in the semifinal and the third place match to exit the tournament in fourth. Solcz fell in the quarterfinals before rebounding with a pair of decisions to finish fifth overall at 197 lbs.
Other multiple winners for Davidson included 157-pounder Zach Colangelo (2-2) and 174-pounder Nathaniel Power (2-2).

149-pounder Kevin Birmingham is sitting at 20th according to InterMat Wrestling Rankings. Birmingham, who earned Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Oct. 27, owns an 8-1 overall mark. The senior has registered four pins in his eight wins this season.

Davidson and Ohio Northern will meet for just the fourth time in program history, with the Polar Bears holding a 2-1 advantage. The Wildcats recorded their first win against Ohio Northern last season with a 23-17 victory on the road.
