DAVIDSON, N.C. –
The Davidson field hockey team will play host to Atlantic 10 foe Saint Francis in a 5:30 p.m. contest at Belk Turf Field Friday. The Wildcats will honor three seniors prior to the game.

Fans can watch the action live on the Atlantic 10 Network. 
 
About Davidson
The Wildcats (2-14, 1-4 A-10) have scored one goal in four of its last six games. Junior Melissa Funsten and sophomore Becca Jones lead the team with eight points each (3 goals, 2 assits), while Katherine English (2 goals, 1 assists) and Dodi Allocca (2 goals, 1 assists) have produced five points. Junior Emily Leytham has played the majority of minutes in the cage this season and has registered 126 saves along with a shutout at Saint Louis.
 
The Class of 2015
This year's senior class will be recognized with a pregame ceremony before Friday's game. Co-captain Madeline Herder will be recognized along with classmates Kaity Anstrom and Kristy Helscel.
 
Last Time Out
The Wildcats played a tight match at Vermont Oct. 19, but eventually fell 2-1 in overtime. Davidson jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half with a Melissa Funsten goal, before Vermont evened the score with just 13 seconds remaining in regulation. Vermont won the game with a goal 1:20 into the extra frame.
 
Sharing the Points
Dating back to Sept. 19, the Wildcat's last seven goals have come from four different players with Melissa Funsten and Katherine English finding the back of the cage multiple times, and Kaity Anstrom and Dodi Allocca have also scored a goal each. Overall, seven Wildcats have registered a tally and eight have recorded at least one point on the season.
 
Leytham in the Rankings
Junior Emily Leytham ranks among the nation's best in the three major statistical categories for goalies.  The Charlottesville, Va., native is fourth in saves per game (.788), eighth in save percentage (.783) and 44th in goals against average (2.23).
 
D the Key
In each of Davidson's wins this season the team's defense has been the driving reason for success.  The Wildcats posted a 2-1 win over Rider (Sept. 6) before blanking Saint Louis 1-0 (Oct. 4). Davidson has allowed 1.50 goals per games in win and boasts a .938 save percentage during victories.
 
Scouting Saint Francis (11-2, 4-2 A-10)
The Red Flash enters the weekend 11-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play to sit in tied for fourth place with La Salle in the Atlantic 10. Saint Francis has a high-powered offense, scoring 3.62 goals per game to rank second in the nation, led by Autumn Pellman. Pellman leads the team in nearly all offensive categories including goals (16), points (33), shots (75) and game-winning goals (4). Pellman is third in the country with 1.23 goals per game, and fifth with 2.54 points per game. Carissa Makea is second on the team with nine scores, while Selena Adamshick has seven. Samantha Zeiders owns a 11-2 record in goal for Saint Francis and enters Friday's matchup with a 1.01 goals against average and a .772 save percentage, good for 12th best in the country.

After Friday, the Wildcats will have two games remaining on the slate. Davidson hosts VCU Oct. 31, before traveling to Richmond Nov. 2.
