DAVIDSON, N.C. – Second-half goals from Alan Reiter and Luke Blades led Davidson to a 2-0 win over St. Bonaventure and its first-ever victory in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action Saturday evening at Alumni Stadium.
The Wildcats improve to 7-1-3 overall and 1-1-1 in A-10 action, while the Bonnies fall to 1-9-0 and 0-3-0.
For the second straight contest and fifth time this season, Reiter provided the eventual game-winner. The midfielder's team-leading sixth goal of 2014 came following a blast from Blades that deflected off St. Bonaventure's keeper to Reiter just in front.
Not long after assisting on Reiter's strike, Blades scored his first goal of the year off an impressive combination from Nathan Marder and Maxi Pragnell.
Davidson, which has scored 16 of its 18 goals this season after intermission, finished with a commanding 20-8 advantage in shots. St. Bonaventure held a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.
Jeremy Figler led both keepers with seven saves, while Matt Pacifici recorded three for the 'Cats en route to his fourth shutout.
Pragnell had a pair of great scoring chances for the Wildcats in the first half. After hitting the left post just five minutes into the contest, the sophomore had what appeared to be a shot at an open net, cleared at the last second by a Bonnies' defender.
Davidson will enjoy a week away from game action before returning to the pitch, Saturday, Oct. 25 at George Mason.
