DAVIDSON, N.C. — Led by six scholar-athletes, the Davidson women's tennis team was one of 130 Division I tennis teams in the nation to earn ITA All-Academic Team honors, as announced recently by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Davidson was one of six Southern Conference schools to earn the all-academic team award, joining College of Charleston, Chattanooga, Elon, Georgia Southern and Wofford.
In addition to the team's collective success, six Wildcats were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes for their success in the classroom. Recent grad Frizzi Bschorer along with rising seniors Nisha Crouser, Brites Moniz-Soares and Tamra Hill, and Blake Nickles and Elaina Cummer were each a scholar-athlete. All six players were first-time honorees.
Bschorer, Crouser, Moniz-Soares and Hill were each named to the All-SoCon Academic Team earlier this season.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
