CLEMSON, S.C. - Davidson junior Andrew Lantz won the 800-meter run in 1 minute 50.33 seconds at the Bob Pollack Invitational Friday evening at Rock Norman Track.
The time ranks among the top-10 best in Davidson men's track and field history in the event.
Lantz, who is looking to improve his chances of qualifying for the NCAA East Region Championship, is slated to run the 1500-meter run at the Duke Twilight Sunday. Lantz is expected to be joined by teammate Vincent Weir at Duke, who will compete in the steeplechase. Select runners from the Davidson women's team will also compete at Duke.
Lantz is on the bubble in the 800m, presently ranking 38th in 1:50.23. His season-best 1500m time is 3:50.31, but he holds the school record at 3:47.66. If he can reach that career-best 1500m time, he could earn a place in that field, as well.
