DAVIDSON, N.C. — Three Wildcats won their respective singles and doubles matches in carrying the Wildcats to a 6-1 home victory over Radford Friday afternoon in the Knobloch Tennis Center during non-conference women's tennis action.
Davidson's (2-1) Stephani Synn, Nisha Crouser and Elaina Cummer each netted singles and doubles wins to pace the 'Cats. Synn and Crouser teamed up at No. 2 doubles for an 8-3 win and Davidson took all three spots over the Highlanders (0-1).
Synn won her first match of the year in singles play, netting a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at No. 3. Crouser took a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Meg Napolitano at No. 4.
Cummer tallied her second wins in both singles and doubles. She and Brites Moniz-Soares sealed up the doubles point with an 8-4 win, and then the freshman cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at No. 2 singles.
Elise Held and Blake Nickles rounded out the singles play for the Wildcats with straight-set wins. Held allowed just three games, winning 6-1, 6-2, while Nickles battled to a 7-5, 7-6 victory at No. 6 over Allison Michael.
Catherine Wood and Frizzi Bschorer improved to 2-1 in doubles action with an 8-3 triumph at No. 3.
Davidson turns around and plays Gardner-Webb at home tomorrow at 10 a.m.
