DAVIDSON, N.C. – Campbell quarterback Brian Hudson threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Campbell past Davidson, 47-14, in Pioneer Football League action Saturday afternoon in Richardson Stadium.

The game was the season finale for both teams, as Davidson finished 0-11 overall and 0-8 in conference play, while Campbell finished 3-9 overall and 2-6 in conference play.

Campbell held the Wildcats to just 208 yards of offense. Davidson quarterback Jonathan Carkhuff completed 14-of-25 passing attempts for 115 yards, with seven different receivers catching passes, while David Rogers led the ground attack with 45 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown.

For Campbell, Hudson completed 15-of-22 pass attempts for 160 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed 15 times for 71 yards and two touchdowns. DeShawn Jones added 117 yards and a touchdown on the ground, while Ben Bolling was Hudson's top target with five catches for 168 yards and a touchdown. Jonathon Rogers also returned a kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown.

A 55-yard rush by Jones set up Campbell's first score early in the first quarter. Jones reached the Davidson 4-yard line before getting pushed out of bounds by Colin Merrill, and then Hudson rushed it into the end zone from two yards out two plays later.

Davidson answered on its next possession, as a 44-yard kickoff return by Robert Klein gave the Wildcats prime field position on Campbell's 49.  A 20-yard completion to Trey Huelskamp moved the 'Cats into the red zone, and Klein eventually scored on a 4-yard touchdown run. Quarterback JP Douglas then found Jeff McDaniels for a two-point conversion for an 8-7 Davidson lead.

Campbell was able to take the lead for good, though, late in the first half with a pair of touchdowns. Keith Goss ran 18 yards into the end zone with 3:36 remaining in the second quarter, and the Camels then forced a three-and-out and capped a 10-play, 65-yard drive in 1 minute, 45 seconds with a touchdown run from 8 yards out by Hudson. Alex Behrend nearly prevented the score by forcing a fumble just before the goal line, but the ball bounced back into Hudson's chest in the end zone for a 19-8 Campbell advantage at halftime.

The Camels put the game out of reach in the second half. Rogers returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown and Kurt Odom scored on an 18-yard run for a 33-8 lead midway through the third quarter. Jones then capped a 13-play, 81-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter for a 40-8 advantage.

Freshman quarterback John Cook entered the game in the fourth for Davidson and engineered a seven-play, 53-yard touchdown drive with an option attack that David Rogers completed with a 4-yard run into the end zone. However, Campbell added a 30-yard touchdown pass to Bolling with 6:44 remaining for the final margin.

Ugonna Awuruonye led the Camels defense with nine tackles, including two for loss, while Isaac Scott had two of the Camels' four sacks.

Matt Casey, Dan Casey and William Curran each made nine stops for Davidson, while the two Casey's combined on a sack, and Dan Casey made a total of 3.0 stops behind the line. Bryant Bednarek also made an interception and Merrill blocked an extra point.

NOTES: William Morris was held to a season-low two catches for 15 yards to finish with 1,090 for the season – the third most in Davidson history … Morris' 67 receptions are tied for the fourth most in a single season in school history … Matt Casey finished the year with 106 tackles, which ranks as the fourth-most in a single season at Davidson … Jonathan Carkhuff graduates Davidson's program as its all-time leader in passing yards (10,745), attempts (1,722) and completions (1,032) … The Wildcats honored 20 seniors for their commitment to Davidson football before the game … Jonathan Carkhuff, Ben Prater, Reese Williams and Garrett Diehl served as game captains and were joined by the senior class … William Rikard '67 served as the 'Cats' honorary captain.
