DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's basketball team welcomes state-border rival Winthrop Friday night in John M. Belk Arena for their home opener at 7 p.m.
It's the earliest the Wildcats have opened at home since starting the 2006-07 with a game against UNC Asheville, Nov. 12.
Game Notes: Quick Hits ...
•This will be the Wildcats' lone home game in a stretch of seven to open the year.
•Davidson is off to a 2-0 start after collecting road wins at Clemson and Mount St. Mary's, Nov. 8 & 12.
•It's the best start since the 2006-07 team opened with wins against UNC Asheville and East Tennessee State.
•Home Openers – In the program's 34-year history, the Wildcats are 16-16 overall in home openers, including 6-2 the last eight years.

Big Season-Opening Win at Clemson ...
•The 'Cats scored a big season-opening win by taking down the Clemson Tigers 77-57 last Friday.
•The trio of Laura Murray, Hannah Early and Shneeka Center led the way, combining for 60 points.
•Murray had her 18th career 20-point outing with a game-high 22. She hit a career-best 12-of-13 from the charity stripe and scored 12 of the Wildcats' final 15 points to seal the win.
•Center went off for 18 points, 14 of them during a game-changing 20-3 run in the second half.
•Davidson as a team hit 10-for-15 from behind the arc, outscoring the Tigers 46-29 in the second half.
•The win was the 'Cats' first over an ACC foe since an 82-75 victory at Wake Forest, Nov. 17, 1998.

•Davidson and Winthrop will be facing each other for the 15th time with the Wildcats holding a 10-4 lead, which included rattling off a nine-game win streak from Jan. 23, 1993 to Nov. 15, 2008.
•The two teams matched up two years ago at Belk Arena, with the Wildcats taking an 80-65 decision.
•In the win, Shneeka Center led a 42-point bench output with a team-best 14 points.
Scouting the Opposition – Winthrop
•The Eagles opened the season with a home win against Coll. of Charleston, Nov. 10, earning a 67-49 triumph. They led by as many as 18 points late in the second half.
•Erica Williams led three Eagles in double figures with 18 points. She was named the Big South Freshman of the Week for her efforts.
•Dequesha McClanahan became the program's all-time leading scorer with 17 points in the win.
•She now has 1,708 and is just 143 points away from becoming Winthrop's career leading scorer for both men and women.
•The senior is a two-time Big South Player of the Year and was again picked to win it this year.
•McClanahan (11 rbs.) and Schaquilla Nunn (12 pts, 14 rbs.) each had a double-double in the win.
