DAVIDSON, N.C. – Coming off a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Virginia Tech Tuesday, Davidson will conclude its 2013 regular season with a 7 p.m. Senior Night contest against Appalachian State Friday evening at Alumni Stadium.
Prior to the contest, seniors Alex Givens, Nick Grube, Jake Keator, Ryan Malden, Coleman O'Neill, Daniel Peek and Chris Pettiglio will be honored.
"The seven Seniors epitomize the focus on and power of the team's theme of Brotherhood," said Davidson head coach Matt Spear. "They believe in each other, they enjoy each other, they fight for each other. The culture of our team and program has been significantly impacted in positive, indelible ways by their character and commitment."
Trailing for almost the entire contest against the Hokies, Pettiglio evened the score with 59 seconds remaining in regulation and Valeriy Sviderskiy provided the golden goal in the 95th minute to end the Wildcats five-game slide.
"We want to win this match for the seven Seniors. We also want to win to increase the spark ignited from the thrilling mid-week win over Virginia Tech (Match Story)."
Davidson, which will join the Atlantic 10 in July of 2014, enters its final Southern Conference regular season match 7-9-1 overall and 1-4-0 in the league.
Sviderskiy continues to lead Davidson in scoring with seven goals, which also ranks tied for third in the league, while fellow forward Max Pragnell is second in the SoCon with seven assists.
Appalachian State, which has dropped five of its last six contests, comes in 3-6-6 overall and 1-3-1 in the conference.
Stanley Broaden is the Mountaineers' top scorer with five goals, four assists and 14 total points.
"A win over a Conference opponent will accelerate our momentum and confidence leading to next week's Conference Tournament run," Spear said.
Davidson will enjoy a week break, before returning to the pitch Saturday, Nov. 9 for the opening round of the conference tournament. The Wildcats will find out their opponent and destination later this weekend.
