DAVIDSON, N.C. – After a strong start at last weekend's All-North Carolina Invitational, Davidson makes its way back to Cannon Pool to host East Carolina in a pair of dual meets with a 1 p.m. start.
SO SOON?
Just two weeks into the season and the Wildcats and Pirates will meet for the second time, though it will be their first head-to-head action of the year. Both teams competed at the All-N.C. Invitational last weekend, with both the ECU men and women's team taking second place. The Davidson women finished right behind the Pirates, taking third overall, while the Wildcat men finished fourth.
TRIO HONORED
The 'Cats started the season off with a bang as a trio of Davidson swimmers/divers were honored by the CCSA for their performance at last week's event. Elise Lankiewicz and Dylan Ludwick each recorded a three top-10 individual finishes in earning the CCSA Female and Male Swimmer of the Week honors, respectively. Brian McRae finished in the top four in both the 1- and 3-meter events to take home Diver of the Week accolades.
FRESHMAN MAKE WAVES
In addition to Lankiewicz, who finished in the top-10 of the 500-yard free (fourth), 200-yard fly (seventh) and 100-yard fly (ninth), numerous Wildcat newcomers made an impression in their collegiate debuts. Erica Clancy and Kassie Shannon were members of the third-place 200-yard free relay team, while Clancy took fourth in the 50-yard freestyle. Shannon also grabbed a top-10 finish, coming in eighth in the event. Fellow rookie Katy Williams finished 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke.
NEXT UP…
The Wildcats will travel to former CCSA rival the College of Charleston next Saturday for more head-to-head action. The 'Cats and the Cougars will face off at 11:30 a.m. in Charleston, S.C.
