CHAPEL HILL, N.C. –
Sophomore Andrew Lantz and junior Demetrios Pagonis broke the Davidson indoor men's track and field records in the 800- and 3000-meter runs, respectively, to lead the Wildcats Saturday at the Kent Taylor Invitational hosted by the University of North Carolina in Eddie Smith Field House.

Pagonis won the 3000m by over 11 seconds in 8 minutes, 19.80 seconds to best the mark of 8:20.39 set by Tom Divinnie in 2010. Junior Vincent Weir (8:36.86), sophomore Grayam Sailor-Tynes (8:38.82) and junior Wes Reynolds (8:40.61) placed third, fourth and fifth in the same event. Weir's time places him on Davidson's all-time top-10 performers list.

Lantz was the second to break a Wildcat record on the day, winning the 800m by nearly three seconds in 1:52.96 to best the record of 1:54.75 set by Douglas Noreen in 2007.

Sophomore Stewart Dalton etched his name on the Davidson all-time performance list in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 6 ¾ inches (6.57m) to place sixth in the event.

Junior Will Mitchell placed fourth in the mile run in 4:22.72 to lead Davidson in the event. Senior Taylor Martin led Davidson in the 400-meter dash in 52.13 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team of Dorsey, freshman Cyrus Bahram, junior Eduardo Vaca and Martin placed seventh in 3:31.27.

The Davidson men's track and field team will return to action Saturday at the Fast Track Invitational hosted by Wake Forest.
