DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson saw the Navy Mids score the first nine goals of the game and the Wildcats were never able to recover in falling 16-5 in their home opener on Saturday afternoon at Richardson Stadium.

The Wildcats fell to 0-2 on the season, while Navy ran its overall record to 4-1 as it won its fourth straight since a season-opening defeat to High Point.

Navy had five players net two or more goals on the afternoon, led by Loren Generi's four goals. Jasmine DePompeo paced the Mids with six points, getting two goals and a game-high four assists, while Kathy Young was second with four points on three goals and an assist.

Generi and Young combined to score four goals in the first six and half minutes. DePompeo picked up three of her four assists on the three of Navy's first seven goals.

Ann Fucigna again led the Wildcat scoring attack with her 12th straight multi-goal game, getting a pair of goals to go with an assist for three points. Emily Rademacher, Emily Cooke and Lindsay Cooper each had one goal apiece.

Defensively, Abigail Doelger picked up three groundballs and caused three turnovers to go with a draw control. Goalie Jessica Melby finished with five saves for the game, while freshman goalie Katy Boyle saw her first collegiate action and picked up a couple of saves.

Cooke and Rademacher scored back-to-back goals before the first half concluded, but the 'Cats were down 9-2 at the half.

Davidson kept Navy at bay in the second stanza, allowing just five goals while scoring three of its own. Fucigna netted both her goals in the second period at the 22:36 and 19:01 marks, while Lindsay Cooper scored the 'Cats final goal at the 13:21 mark.

Davidson continues its six-game homestand with a 6 p.m. contest against UC Davis on Thursday, March 1.
