DAVIDSON, N.C. – Nine players scored for No. 23 Miami, including three who reached double figures, and Davidson was overwhelmed by the Hurricanes' aggressiveness in falling 67-35 on the road Saturday afternoon at the BankUnited Center in women's basketball.

Morgan Stroman paced the Hurricanes (7-1), who won their fifth straight, with a double-double behind 17 points and 13 rebounds. She had 11 of those points, including six in a row to open the new half, in the second period when Miami pulled away.

Krystal Saunders scored 13 points, nine of them on three-pointers during a decisive 14-4 run in the second half that turned a 41-26 lead into 55-30 with 6:12 left.

Sarah Davis (St. Clair, Mich.) had a solid game, scoring a season-best 13 points to pace the Wildcat (3-5) attack. She scored the first eight points for Davidson to open the second half. The senior hit a career-high six field goals, finishing 6-of-8 from the floor.

Laura Murray (Harrisburg, Pa.) filled the box sheet with five points, six rebounds and a career-high tying seven assists. In her return trip home, senior Jasmine Calin (Miami, Fla.) pulled in a season-high five boards and matched her personal-best with three steals.

Davidson's leading scorer, Sophia Aleksandravicius (Pound Ridge, N.Y.), was held to just four points and two rebounds. She came in averaging a double-double and was coming off a monster game Wednesday in win vs. High Point with 30 points and 15 rebounds.

The senior did tie Carolyn Kirsch with her two rebounds for most rebounds in the program history with 878, needing one more to becoming the all-time leader.

Miami used a balanced scoring attack and a full-court press to grab an early 10-0 lead to start the game. The 'Canes had seven different players score in the first 10 minutes and pushed their advantage out to 17-4.

Davidson stayed strong against the No. 23 team in the country and started to chip away. Hannah Early and Murray got the Wildcats' offense going with shots from downtown in the later stages of the half, and the 'Cats were within nine at the break, 27-18. The duo scored five points each in the half, and Early finished with seven for the game.

The Hurricanes, who shot 46.8 percent, had 10 blocks and 13 steals, while forcing 18 turnovers and turning them into 20 points. They also scored 42 of their points in the paint.

Davidson continues its four-game road trip to Gardner-Webb Thursday, Dec. 13, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. The Wildcats scored a 67-46 win at home vs. the Runnin Bulldogs a year ago.

GAME NOTES: This was the first meeting between both schools … today's game was the sixth road contest of 12 that Davidson has to open the season in its first 15 games … this was the first time the Wildcats faced a ranked opponent since playing No. 17 Vanderbilt in 2008-09 … Davidson dished out 13 dimes on their 16 field goals … Aleksandravicius needs 80 more points and one more rebound to be the program's all-time leader in both categories … Murray moved closer to 1,000 for her career, needing 108 points.
