‘Cats Return to Belk Arena to Host Mountaineers

DAVIDSON, N.C. – After two weeks on the road, the Davidson volleyball team (9-13, 5-7 SoCon) returns home to Belk Arena where they will host the Appalachian State Mountaineers in a Southern Conference tilt on Saturday. The game is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
Appalachian State enters the match up with a 7-20 overall mark and a 3-10 record in SoCon action. Most recently, they downed Western Carolina in a midweek league contest, defeating the Catamounts by a score of 3-0. They have won two of their last four contests, also beating the Citadel at home 3-1. Dalton Tolliver leads the way with 2.83 kills per set, while Courtney Rhein is averaging 5.18 digs per set. Jessica Eley's 81 blocks are a team high, as are Megan Mahoney's 20 aces.
SERIES HISTORY
The two squads will meet for the 44th time since 1986, with Davidson trailing 27-16 all-time in the series. The Wildcats took last season's meeting by a score of 3-2 in Boone, N.C., but fell to the Mountaineers 3-0 the last time the two met at Belk Arena. Davidson is 3-2 in the last five meetings.
CRENSHAW TAKES OVER
With a career-high 40 digs in Sunday's match at The Citadel, senior libero Molly Crenshaw moved even higher in Davidson's all-time rankings. Crenshaw now sits third all-time with 1,628 career digs and needs 13 more to move into second. She is currently averaging 5.21 digs per set.
TEAM LEADERS
Caroline Brown, who posted a career-high 28 kills vs. The Citadel, leads the team with 3.60 kills per set. Tindall Sewell's .320 attacking percentage leads the team, as do Ariel Ley's 10.25 assists per set. Brown is also the team leader in aces with 26 on the season, while Sewell's 78 blocks are a team-high.
