DAVIDSON, N.C. — Led by the duo of Lauren Carter and Grace Watt, the Davidson women's indoor track and field team had a nice season-opening showing at the Niswonger Invitational hosted by East Tennessee State on Friday and Saturday.
Carter cruised to a second place finish in the 5000 Meter run as she clocked in at 17:35.05 to pace the Wildcats. Four other 'Cats competed in the event over the weekend, with Annamarie Armistead following up Carter with a 28th place finish on a time of 20:02.98.
Alex Horst (30th- 20.08.52) was third among the Davidson runners, while Chelsea Gordon (40th place) and Abbey Thibeault (46th) also ran in their first event of the indoor season.
Running to a time of 2:26.45, Watt earned herself a first place finish in the 800 Meter run. Brooke Senken finished in the top-20 with a time of 2:30.83 for 17th place.
Rounding out the weekend was Ali Cobb, who finished 23rd in the Mile run with a time of 5:38.92.
Davidson will next compete at the Kent Taylor Invitational, Feb. 4, on the campus of North Caorlina in Chapel Hill, N.C.
