Wrestling Hosts Chattanooga in SoCon Match Sunday

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson wrestling team will host Chattanooga in a Southern Conference match Sunday at 1 p.m. in Belk Arena.
Scouting the Wildcats: The young Davidson squad is winless with an 0-9 mark overall and losses to Campbell and VMI in conference. Freshman Kevin Birmingham will lead the squad with 10 wins in matches at 141 and 149 pounds. Senior Tyler Mullen also has a winning record at 9-6 for the season. Freshman Anthony Elias is coming off a strong outing at the Patriot Duals with a pair of decisions at 133 pounds against George Mason and Cleveland State. Over half of Davidson's starting lineup features freshmen.
Scouting the Mocs: UTC is on a six-match winning streak and improved its record to 9-3 with a win over SoCon foe Campbell Friday. Chattanooga defeated Air Force (28-7), Utah Valley (27-7), Brown (37-3) and Wayland Baptist (46-3). Chattanooga will be looking to extend its 37-match SoCon winning streak, as they have not lost a league contest since falling to The Citadel on Feb. 14, 2004, in Charleston, S.C. The Mocs are led by Nick Soto at 133 pounds, who is ranked 14th in the nation with an 18-4 record.
Up Next: Davidson will travel east to face Duke on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m.
