CHARLESTON, S.C. — Sophomore Brites Moniz-Soares continued her early season Fall success by reaching the finals of the A2 Singles bracket as she led a group of Wildcat women's tennis players at the College of Charleston Invitational over the weekend of Sept. 16-18.

Moniz-Soares, who won the Flight 3 Singles bracket last weekend at the Davidson Fall Classic I, again had a strong showing in singles action. The sophomore reached the semifinals with a pair of wins over two Southern Conference-foes, starting her weekend with a 6-7, 6-3, 10-5 triumph over Samantha Cox of College of Charleston, and then rolled to a 6-1, 6-4 victory in the second round over a player from Samford. She kept the winning going with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Allie Staudt of Jacksonville to make the finals. Moniz-Soares' run ended there as she fell in a super tiebreaker, 11-9, after splitting the first two sets, 3-6, 6-4.

Fellow sophomore Nisha Crouser also competed in the A2 Singles bracket.

Stephani Synn represented the Wildcats in the A1 Singles bracket as she reached the semifinals on the consolation side. Synn fell in her first match, but came back with 6-2, 3-6, 11-9 win over player from UNCG to reach semis.

Katharine Dicconson and Catherine Wood each played in the A3 Singles bracket, with Wood netting her first Fall win of the season after leading 5-0 and seeing her opponent retire on the consolation side.

In the B1 Singles bracket, freshman Blake Nickles opened the weekend with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Ginny Johnson of Charlotte. The freshman's main draw run ended with a 6-2, 6-2 defeat to Dominique DeWit of Coastal.

Elise Held also competed in the B1 Singles bracket over the weekend. She picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win on the consolation side.

Davidson takes a weekend off before going to the Wake Forest Invitational, Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
