Wildcats W. Tennis Close Regular Season With 7-0 Defeat at UNCG

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Playing in their final regular-season match prior to the Southern Conference Tournament, Davidson fell by the score of 7-0 on the road at UNCG on Monday afternoon in women's tennis league action.
The Wildcats fell to 5-19 and 1-9 in SoCon play, while the Spartans closed out their last match with a 14-6 record and 9-1 vs. the SoCon.
Davidson's lone win on the afternoon came from the duo of Stephani Synn and Alison Rauh, who took home an 8-6 victory at the No. 2 doubles spot. The pair finished out the year winning three straight and improved to 3-1, all coming vs. the league.
The duo of Samantha Galainena and Katharine Dicconson nearly gave the Wildcats the doubles point, but fell in the end of a close match, 8-6, at No. 3.
Rauh came close to forcing a third set in singles action, as she pushed her second set to a tie-breaker vs. Alex Whitehead at No. 2 singles. But, Rauh scored just three points in the tie-breaker, falling 7-3 for the final of 6-3, 7-6.
UNCG took all six singles positions in straight sets for the 7-0 win.
Davidson now readies itself for the SoCon Tournament, Apr. 20-23, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
