DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson looks to make its first-ever matchup vs. the Binghamton Bearcats a winning one when the Wildcats play host to BU on Tuesday evening at Richardson Stadium on the FieldTurf.
Davidson's second game of the week will have it traveling to Jacksonville on Sunday as the Wildcats seek their first National Lacrosse Conference win. Last year, the Wildcats scored a 17-12 win at home vs. the Dolphins to move to 2-0 all-time vs. JU.
The Opening Draw Control
Davidson (1-7) looks for its second non-conference win of the season by welcoming Binghamton (1-6) on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.
The Bearcats will play at High Point today, before heading to Davidson. BU has dropped its last three games to Canisius, Monmouth and Drexel.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
Tuesday's contest will be the first in facing each other in the all-time series.
Last Time Out...
... Davidson — The Wildcats saw Longwood rattle off 13 straight goals during the first half and were never able to recover in falling 19-4 on the road in their first National Lacrosse Conference game of the season in Farmville, Va.
In a matchup of last year's top-two teams that reached the NLC finals, Longwood (4-3, 1-0 NLC) got the best of the Wildcats (1-7, 0-1 NLC) again. The Lancers earned a 17-9 win in last year's final.
After Ann Fucigna opened the game with her 17th goal of the season, Longwood would run off 13 straight goals from the 25:28 mark of the half all the way until the 1:57 mark for a 13-1 lead.
Alanna Parker halted the run, but it was too little too late for Davidson. The sophomore did push her consecutive goal streak to 16 games and added more score in the second half to give her 17 on the season.
Erin Doherty added the fourth and final goal for Davidson in the late stages of the second period. She picked up a season-high four draw controls.
Lily Graham led three Wildcats with two caused turnovers apiece, while fellow senior Taylor Ketcham had a career-best four groundballs.
Graham has a team-best nine caused turnovers to go along with 10 groundballs.
... Binghamton — Prior to playing at High Point today, the Bearcats took on Drexel, Mar. 13.
After three games in five days the Binghamton women's lacrosse team seemed out of gas as the Bearcats fell behind 7-0 in the first half to host Drexel and could not catch the Dragons in a non-conference game. It was the third straight loss for BU after tying a school record for goals (20) against Niagara, Mar. 4.
The Bearcats offense was held scoreless for over 27 minutes in the first half managing just seven shots.
Drexel held a significant shots on goal advantage over the Bearcats, outshooting BU 21-9. Goalie Lauren Scott stopped 11 of those shots. The Dragon defense caused 15 of Binghamton's 21 turnovers, obstructing any consistency on offense for the Bearcats. Drexel also held a 19-13 ground balls edge.
Senior Beth Moore netted two goals to pace the offense and broke the BU's all-time goals record. She now has 91 career goals, first on BU's all-time goals list. Ali Castiglie, who also scored, pushed her points total to 132 for her career, just 12 back from the all-time school record.
