‘Cats to Host Campbell Wrestling Thursday

2/9/2011 1:41:15 PM | Wrestling

DAVIDSON, N.C. –
Alex Radsky, Vitaly Radsky and Scott Ray will put their winning streaks on the line Thursday night when Davidson wrestling hosts Campbell in Belk Arena at 7 p.m.

Fans unable to attend can follow the match on live video and live stats.

Scouting the Wildcats: Davidson enters the non-conference match with a 5-9 record. Injuries have made it difficult for the 'Cats to claim team wins, but they have not been without stellar individual performances. Of Alex Radsky's nine dual meet wins at 133 pounds, he has accumulated bonus points in all but one and has won his last four. His 22-7 record is the best of his career, and with just four dual meets and the Southern Conference tournament remaining, he will need to win-out to break the Davidson record of 28 set by Ian Kaplan in 2000. Vitaly Radsky (141) needs to win-out during the regular season to earn the best single-season winning-percentage in Davidson history. His record currently stands at 16-3 after winning his last five matches, five wins shy of Kaplan's 21-3 (.875) mark set in 1999. Scott Ray has won four-straight at 149 pounds.

Scouting the Camels: Campbell enters the match at just 3-16, but has won its last two matches over Sacred Heart and Franklin & Marshall, two schools that Davidson has also earned wins against this season. Campbell's only other win came against Anderson on Jan. 8, 21-18, to whom the Wildcats recently lost to, 36-10. Parker Burns, a heavyweight, is the lone Camel with a winning record this season at 14-11. Campbell has yet to win against a Southern Conference team this season, suffering defeats to Appalachian State and The Citadel. The Camels and Wildcats shared one other common opponent, Millersville, whom the 'Cats defeated, 31-9 on Jan. 9 and and Campbell lost to on Feb. 4, 21-26.

The Series: Campbell won the first 25 meetings against Davidson, but the 'Cats have taken the last five. Davidson took a 23-21 victory over Campbell in Buies Creek last season as the since graduated Carl Sandercock earned a crucial pin. The Camels led late, but did not have anyone to oppose Charlie Wolff, giving the Wildcats the win.

Up Next:
Three dual meets remain for the Wildcats before the Southern Conference Championships. Davidson will hit the road to take on SoCon foe Chattanooga (Feb. 13) and Gardner-Webb (Feb. 16). The regular season concludes Sunday, Feb. 20 in Belk Arena against SoCon foe Appalachian State. Seniors Alex Radsky, Vitaly Radsky and Charlie Wolff will be honored before the match.
