Three Pins Not Enough for Wrestling Against Campbell

2/10/2011 8:52:04 PM | Wrestling

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Scott Ray (149 pounds), Alex Radsky (133) and Vitaly Radsky (141) all won by fall, but those were the only victories the Wildcats could muster as Campbell won, 30-18, in non-conference wrestling action Thursday night in Belk Arena.

With the action beginning at 149 pounds, Ray's pin of Campbell's (4-16) Ethan Carmody in two minutes, five seconds gave Davidson (5-10) a 6-0 lead, but the short-handed 'Cats had to spot Campbell 12 points at 157 and 165 pounds, which proved to be the difference in the match.

John Nichols scored a pin at 184 pounds before Campbell extended their lead to 30-6 with three consecutive decisions to secure the meet victory.

The Radsky twins then made short work of their opponents to shrink the gap for Davidson. Alex Radsky pinned Dominique Whitfield in 1:42 for his third consecutive win by fall, improving his season record to a career-best 23-7. He has won his last five bouts.

Vitaly Radsky pinned Michael Jordan in 1:10. The senior's win was his sixth straight and improves his record to 17-3. He leads the team with seven pins and is riding a six-match winning streak.

Three dual meets remain for the Wildcats before the Southern Conference Championships. Davidson will hit the road to take on SoCon foe Chattanooga (Feb. 13) and Gardner-Webb (Feb. 16). The regular season concludes Sunday, Feb. 20 in Belk Arena against SoCon foe Appalachian State.

Notes: Ray's pin was his second of the season and gave him his fifth consecutive victory … of Alex Radsky's 10 dual meet wins, he has accumulated bonus points in all but one … Alex Radsky is on track to finish with the most single-season wins in Davidson history … Vitaly Radsky could finish with the highest-winning percentage in Davidson history.
