DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Wildcats will look to keep their winning ways going at home when they host the Winthrop Eagles on Thursday evening at John M. Belk Arena.

The Opening Tip
Davidson (2-4) will battle its third Big South opponent of the season on Thursday at 7 p.m. when Winthrop comes to town for a non-conference women's basketball contest. The Wildcats have won their first two home games of the year against Mercer (75-60) and Gardner-Webb (67-46).

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting ...
... has seen Davidson win nine of the last 10 meetings against Winthrop, but had its nine-game win streak snapped last year on the road. The 'Cats are 9-4 all-time in the series.

They dropped a 49-41 decision a year ago despite a double-double from Sophia Aleksandravicius (16 points/10 rebounds).

Scouting the Wildcats
•Davidson returns home after an 84-53 defeat at Duquesne. The 'Cats finished 0-2 on their trips to Princeton (L, 44-53) and Duquesne last weekend, Nov. 25-27.
•The Wildcats could not overcome the second-half scoring of the Dukes' Alex Gensler and Vanessa Abel, who combined to score the first 25 Duquesne points.
•Davidson shot better than 50 percent (56.5) for the fifth time in the past 10 halves in the first period vs. the Dukes, but trailed 39-33 at halftime.
Sophia Aleksandravicius and Shneeka Center had 12 points each to lead the 'Cats. The 12 points were a season-high for Center, who also had a team-best six rebounds.
•Dating back to the end of last year, Aleksandravicius has scored in double digits in nine straight games. She has registered three 20-point outings and three double-doubles in that span.
•The junior needs just 47 more points to clip the 1,000-point mark.
•Aleksandravicius is averaging 14.5 points and shooting 65 percentage from the floor at home.
•Davidson paces the Southern Conference in field goal percentage (.449) and assists (15 apg).
•Davidson as a program is closing in on 350 wins during its 33-year history, sitting at 341.
•The 'Cats are 2-0 at home and have won six of their last seven games dating back to last Jan. 31.
•Tonight's game vs. Winthrop will be Davidson's third of four contests against a Big South-foe.
•They have already played High Point (L, 69-82) and Gardner-Webb (W, 67-46), and will play at Radford, Dec. 22.
•The 'Cats were picked fifth in this year's SoCon preseason poll as four of the five starters return and nine letterwinners in all return.
•Head coach Michele Savage enters her second year at Davidson (16-21, 8-12 SoCon).
•The Wildcats got a double-double from Aleksandravicius (16 pts/10 rebs), but shot just 29.5 percent from the field and coughed the ball up 24 times in falling 49-41 at Winthrop a year ago.

Scouting the Eagles
•Winthrop dropped its third straight last Sunday with a 69-52 loss to Virginia Commonwealth.
•Dequesha McClanahan poured in 20 points and paces the Eagle offense at 19.2 ppg.
•Last year vs. Davidson, she had a team-best nine points despite a 2-for-13 shooting performance.
•Diana Choibekova and Samiya Wright are also averaging in double figures this year at 18 and 10, respectively. Katie Fitzgerald is hauling in a team-best 8.5 rebounds per game.
•Winthrop's other defeats this year are against Bradley, Stetson and Wichita State.
•Last year saw the Eagles go 13-18 and they were picked fifth in the Big South preseason poll this year.
•McClanahan was named to the All-Big South preseason team after winning the Freshman of the Year honors last season.
•The Eagles were 4-7 on the road a year ago and went 8-7 vs non-conference foes.
•Winthrop returns seven letterwinners and four starters from last year's squad.
•Head coach Marlene Stollings is in her first year and she is the 13th coach in Winthrop's school history. She came from Mississippi where she was an associate head coach the last four seasons.
