Women's Basketball Tips-Off Against Gardner-Webb on Monday Night at John M. Belk Arena

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Wildcats play their second home contest of the 2011-12 season on Monday, Nov. 21, when they host Big South-foe Gardner-Webb in women's basketball action at John M. Belk Arena.

The Opening Tip
Davidson (1-2) looks to even its overall record on Monday night at 6 p.m. by hosting the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs (0-3). The game is part of a doubleheader on Monday with the men's team, who will host Presbyterian following the women's game.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting ...
... has Davidson trailing 7-3, but it has won the last three meetings. The latest victory for the Wildcats came back in 2002 when they scored a 68-56 win at home for their third straight win in the series.

Scouting the Wildcats
•In the first of four games against Big South opponents this year, the Wildcats dropped their first game at High Point, 82-69, last Friday.  
•Davidson could not overcome a drought of just seven points in a seven-and-half minute stretch in the second half when it fell behind by as many as 18 points.
•In three of the last four halves of play against Mercer and High Point, Davidson has shot over 50 percent, including a season-best 63.2 percent in the second half vs. the Bears.
•The 'Cats shot 57.1 percent in the first half at HPU, but trailed at the half, 40-36.
Laura Murray (21 points) and Sophia Aleksandravicius (22 pts/12 rebs) again paced the offense on Friday. The duo are averaging 20.3 and 19.7 points a game, respectively.
•The pair are first and second, respectively, in the SoCon through the first three games in scoring.
•It is the second time in the last three games the duo has scored 20-plus points.
•Aleksandravicius' double-double was her first of the season and the 20th of her career. Dating back to last year, she has scored in double figures in the last five games (18.8 ppg).
•Murray also dished out a career-best seven assists and Davidson had a season-high 23.
Barbara Sitton had a team-high nine assists and also pocketed four steals at HPU.
•Davidson ranks first and second in the SoCon in steals (12.7) and assists (16.0).
•Of Davidson's 69 points on Friday at High Point, 40 of them came in the paint which was six points away from their season-high 46 points in a home win vs. Mercer.
•Aleksandravicius needs just 83 more points to clip the 1,000-point mark.
•Davidson as a program is closing in on 350 wins during its 33-year history, sitting at 340.
•The 'Cats have won five of their last six home games dating back to the end of last year.
•The 'Cats were picked fifth in this year's SoCon preseason poll as four of the five starters return and nine letterwinners in all return.
•Head coach Michele Savage enters her second year at Davidson (15-19, 8-12 SoCon).

Scouting the Runnin' Bulldogs
•Gardner-Webb is coming off a 69-41 setback to SoCon-foe Appalachian State on Saturday.
•GWU put nine scorers in the book, but none of them hit for double figures in the defeat.
•Pacing the offense through the Runnin' Bulldogs' first three games is Catrina Green, who is averaging a double-double at 10 points and 10 boards.
•The Runnin 'Bulldogs have been held to point totals of 44, 48 and 41 in their first three games vs. #19 UNC, Kennesaw State and ASU.
•Jasmine Dale is second on team with 8.3 ppg.  
•GWU?was picked fourth in the Big South preseason coaches poll.
•The Runnin' Bulldogs return seven letterwinners, but just one of its five starters.
•Head coach Rick Reeves is in his seventh year at GWU, tallying 118 wins. He has 385 career wins in 22 years of coaching.
•Gardner-Webb is coming off a 23-11 (11-5 Big South) campaign and were Big South campions last year. GWU played Miami in the first round of NCAA Tournament, falling 80-62.
•A year ago, the Runnin' Bulldogs were 8-5 on the road and 4-2 in neutral site games.

A Look Ahead
  The 'Cats will play a pair of road games at Princeton and Duquesne, Nov. 25-27.
