'Cats Rolling Along, Host Elon on Monday Evening in SoCon Play

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Winners of three straight and four of its past five games, Davidson returns to Belk Arena and will play host Elon on Monday evening in Southern Conference women's basketball action.
The Opening Tip
The Wildcats (12-10, 10-4 SoCon), coming off a two-game road trip, return home for the first time since Jan. 25 when they play the Elon Phoenix (9-15, 4-11 SoCon) on Monday at 7 p.m.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The series is 17 games old with Davidson leading 13-4 and winners of 12 of the past 13 meetings. The Wildcats captured this year's first meeting at Elon, 82-73. The 'Cats have won the last five games at home in the all-time series, including last year's 72-58 decision.
Scouting the Wildcats
•Davidson rolled to its biggest win in over two years when it scored an 83-53 victory at UNC Greensboro on Saturday. The win was the largest in the all-time series and the biggest overall since a 48-point victory over Emory on Dec. 2, 2006.
•The Wildcats used an 18-7 run at the start of the second half, with four three-pointers coming during the run, to pull away. They hit eight three-balls in all and shot 57.1 percent from downtown (8-of-14).
•Davidson has season highs in made field goals (32), field goal percentage (.582), three-point percentage and assists (season-high tying 18).
•Junior Ashley Lax was feeling it on Saturday, canning all five of her treys on her way to a career-high 25 points. It was the sixth time in her career she had eclipsed the 20-point mark.
•Senior Alex Thompson, just 26 points away from being the 13th Wildcat to score 1,000 career points, moved into second-place all-time in assists with 321 after a game-high six dimes on Saturday. The senior ranks third in the league in assists per game at 3.6 (79).
•Last time out vs. Elon, Thompson led all five starters in double figures with 22 points.
•Saturday, Sophia Aleksandravicius record her 10th double-double of the season – eighth vs. a SoCon team – with 10 points and 11 rebounds. She tallied 15 points and 15 rebounds last outing vs. Elon.
•The freshman is third in the league in rebounds per game at 8.2.
•Davidson remained perfect when scoring 80-plus points, 5-0, and improved to 4-0 when holding its opponents to 50-59 points.
•Davidson ranks in the SoCon top-five in scoring (1st- 68.0), field goal percentage (3rd- .428), 3-point field goal percentage (2nd- .366), rebounding (5th- 38.8) and blocks (5th- 3.3).
•The 'Cats are 6-2 at home, 4-2 vs. the SoCon, and have won six of their last seven at home.
•Coach Watts (ninth season) is the program's all-time winningest coach with a 142-116 record. She also clipped the 100-SoCon win mark on Saturday, sitting at 100-64 now for her career.
•Davidson is looking for its fourth SoCon season-series sweep of the year.
•The two teams last met at Elon, Jan. 4, with Davidson earning an 82-73 victory as all five starters reached double figures.
•Last year at Belk Arena, Davidson scored a 72-58 win behind Thompson's game-high 21 points.
Scouting the Phoenix
•Elon enters Monday's game with a 4-11 mark in league play after suffering a 73-54 loss to Appalachian State on Saturday. The Phoenix shot just 26.5 percent in the second half in getting outscored 45-28 to drop their fifth game in the last seven.
•Elon sits at 4-8 in road games, 2-5 vs. the league. This will be only its third road game in the last nine contests.
•Since last meeting Davidson, the Phoenix have gone 4-6, with one of those wins coming at second-place Samford, Feb. 1 (60-59).
•Despite ranking second-to-last in the SoCon in defensive scoring, Elon still has played well defensively. It ranks second in steals (10.5), blocks (4.4) and defensive rebounds (28.1), while holding the opposition to 37.9 percent shooting, third-best.
•Offensively, Ali Ford paces the team with a 15.8 ppg average, good for third in the SoCon.
•She had a career-high 27 points last time vs. the Wildcats. The freshman leads the team with 75 assists, 48 steals and 65 made three-balls.
•Urylsa Cotton is fourth in the conference in rebounding at 7.7. She had 12 points and six boards vs. Davidson back on Jan. 4.
•Kelsey Evans is seventh in the SoCon with a 6.9 rpg average, and second in the league in blocks with 42.
Up Next
Davidson embarks on its last road trip of the season when it heads to Samford and Chattanooga, Feb. 13-15. Currently those two teams rank second and first, respectively, in the league standings.
