The Wildcats started the scoring with three runs on four hits to take an early lead. Gadaire hit a one-out single through the left side and took second when FitzPatrick drew a two-out walk. Tommy Piacenza, James Cerbie and Sam Payne converted three straight hits into three runs.
The Cougars tied the score on a two-out, three-RBI double from Morgan, who benefited from three Wildcat pitching miscues. Joash Brodin reached on an error, Ryan Daniels was hit by a pitch and Mike Hentz walked to set up the scoring opportunity. Charleston added a run in the third on an RBI-single from Brodin to take a slight 4-3 lead.
Davidson took the lead back with a six-run fourth on five hits. Cerbie started the big inning with a leadoff walk and moved to third on a double by Payne. Brett Shore was hit by a pitch to load the bases, and Graham Chapman took a walk to send in a run. Zach Kayne hit into a double play, but the Wildcats kept scoring as Gadaire singled up the middle to plate another. Danny Weiss took a walk and base hits from FitzPatrick, Piacenza and Cerbie added up to three runs.
Charleston got two back in the fourth to cut the lead to 9-6 and pulled ahead with four runs in the seventh. Ryan Overcash and Chris Kennedy worked scoreless innings, and Davidson got the game-tying run in the ninth when Gadaire singled through the left side to plate Shore, who started the inning with a walk.
Kennedy allowed just a hit in the ninth to force extra innings, and FitzPatrick answered with his 13th home run of the season to put the 'Cats up one.
Webb took over on the mound and walked Matt Mansilla. The next batter, Rakar, reached on a fielding error at third while trying to sacrifice him over a base. Hentz failed to lay down a bunt, popping up for the second out, but Morgan's double down the right field line sent in both runners to end the game.
