
Martin Breaks Own School Record in Triple Jump at Charlotte 49er Classic

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Senior Kennesia Martin finished second and broke her own school record in the triple jump as the Wildcat women's track and field team opened the outdoor season at the Charlotte 49er Classic over the weekend.
Martin finished with the runner-up mark of 11.70 meters. She previously jumped a school-best standard of 11.54 meters in 2007.
In the sprints, classmate Kim Colley finished 25th (12.71) in the 100 meters and 26th (25.93) in the 200 meters.
Freshman Danielle Wright placed 31st in the 200 meters with a time of 26.83 and also competed in the 400 meters, finishing 21st with a time of 1:00.99.
Classmate Brooke Senken finished with a team-best time of 5:04.19 (37th) in the 1500 meters, followed closely by sophomore Sarah Cline (40th, 5:05.86).
In the 5000 meters, sophomore Heather Conarroe placed sixth with a time of 17:59.99, while classmate Danielle Ruggieri (eighth, 18:11.02) and senior Emily King (ninth, 18:24.64) were right behind.
After setting the school record in the shot put at the indoor Southern Conference championships, senior Kittery Neale placed seventh in the event with a mark of 11.65 meters.
The Wildcats will return to action Saturday, traveling to Columbia, S.C. for the Weems Baskin Relay.
