ATHENS, Ga. -- The Davidson Wildcat men's and women's teams both finished in second place at the 2009 CCSA Championships, as competition concluded Saturday in Athens, Ga.
The College of Charleston men and Florida Gulf Coast women won 2009 CCSA Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday afternoon on the campus of the University of Georgia at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga. The Cougars picked up a total of 886 points to win the overall men's crown. The Eagles notched a total of 887 points to pick up the title.
The Davidson men's team notched 803 points to finish second, followed by Gardner-Webb with 640 points. Howard finished fourth with 279 points. VMI racked up 275 points to finish fifth, while Florida A&M rounded out the list with 106 points for the men.
“This was the culmination of a statement season for our men," head coach John Young said. "Our 15 athletes won 13 of 20 events contested – 11 with meet record performances. We had almost everyone focused on what was best for the team, and took a step forward as a program this weekend.”
The Wildcat women notched 653 points to finish second, followed by Georgia Southern with 472 points. Gardner-Webb finished fourth with 457 points, North Florida fifth (435) and College of Charleston, sixth (237). Campbell posted 190 points to finish seventh, while Radford was eighth with 128 points.
