
Wildcat Runners Turn in Strong Performances at Niswonger Invitational

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. - Senior Thad Sieracki recorded his second-straight third place finish in the 3,000-meter run, leading the Davidson men's track & field team to four top-ten finishes at the Niswonger Invitational, held on Friday and Saturday on the campus of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn.
Sieracki, who ran an 8:50.13 final race, led a group of three Wildcat runners who finished in the top 15 in the 3,000-meters. Fellow senior Lance Harden came in sixth place with a time of 8:51.40 in the finals, and sophomore Charlie Schmitt turned in a 8:57.45 mark, good for 14th.
In the men's mile run, a pair of 'Cats found their way into the top ten, including Peter Bruton's personal-best time of 4:26.27, which put in him sixth place overall. He was joined by classmate Blake Evitt, who tripped the tape in 4:28.94, which was also a career-best time.
On the field, freshman #J.J. Alston# kicked in his first collegiate appearances with a 19th-place finish in the high jump, clearing a top height of 5.78 meters. Senior Will Funderburg turned came in 22nd in the men's shot put with a throw of 13.78 meters.
The 'Cats will return to action on Feb. 13 when they head to Chapel Hill, N.C. for the second time this season to compete in the UNC Invitational. The following week they will be in Clemson, S.C., the site of this season's Southern Conference Indoor Championships, for the Tiger Invitiational.
