Chattanooga Defeats Davidson Wrestling

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Chattanooga surrendered just two decisions en route to defeating Davidson wrestling 40-6 on Friday evening in John M. Belk Arena. Vitaly Radsky and Charlie Wolff earned the lone decisions for the Wildcats.
Chattanooga won on four pins, one technical fall, two major decisions and one decision. Alex Hudson (157 pounds), Brandon Wright (165), Jason McCroskey (184) and Niko Brown (197) scored the pins. No. 16 Jake Young earned a technical fall over Davidson's Jorge Estrada.
Defending Southern Conference champion Demetrius Johnson gave the Mocs an early 4-0 advantage with a 14-4 major decision at 125 pounds over Matt Zarth. Alex Radsky then dropped a close 5-2 decision before Vitaly Radsky scored an 8-2 decision over Seth Seneca to pull the 'Cats within four.
The 7-3 margin was as close as the Wildcats would come though as Chattanooga took the next six bouts.
Wolff closed the match with an overtime win for Davidson. After a scoreless first period Chattanooga's Matt Lettner took an early 1-0 lead with an escape after choosing bottom to start the second frame, but Wolff evened it up with an escape late in the third after starting on the bottom. The sudden victory frame was scoreless, sending the match to top-bottom frames. Lettner started on the bottom in the first to take a one-point edge, but Wolff scored a reversal in the second frame to win the bout.
The Wildcats will return to action in 2010 when they compete at the Virginia Duals on Jan 8-9 in Hampton Va.
