DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson returns to Belk Arena this Sunday when it seeks its third Southern Conference win by playing host to Wofford on Sunday, Dec. 13, in women's basketball action.
The Opening Tip
Davidson (2-7, 2-1 SoCon) will try to collect win No. 15 in the past 17 meetings against Wofford (1-7, 0-3 SoCon) when the Wildcats battle the Terriers on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in a Southern Conference tilt.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
The series has Davidson leading 21-12 after last year's two-game split. The Wildcats have won 14 of the past 16 contests in the series. The two schools first played each other back on Jan. 15, 1983, with Wofford earning a two-point win, 64-62.
Scouting the Wildcats
•The 'Cats dropped their first Southern Conference game, a 68-59 loss to Appalachian St., Dec. 7.
•It was the Wildcats' home opener as they fell to 6-3 under coach Annette Watts.
•Freshman Sophia Aleksandravicius tallied her second double-double in the last three games with game-high honors of 19 points and 16 rebounds, a season best.
•She is averaging 10.6 ppg, second-best on the team, and has led the Wildcats in scoring twice while pacing them in rebounds four times. The forward has a team-best 12 blocks.
•Senior Monica Laune helped the Wildcat bench outscore the Mountaineers, 35-18, with a perfect night. She was 3-of-3 from the field, with a trey, and 2-for-2 at the 15-foot line for nine points.
•In the last two games, Laune has provided a spark off the bench with 17 points, five boards and four assists.
•The duo of Alex Thompson (12.9 ppg) and Ashley Lax (9.6 ppg) have scored in double figures together in four of the nine games this year.
•The duo have also combined to drain 28 of the 'Cats' 38 three-balls on the season.
•Davidson has registered SoCon wins in three of the last five games dating back to last year.
•Today's game will the second straight at home as Davidson plays three of its five games for the month at John M. Belk Arena after opening the year on the road for eight straight.
•Over the last eight years, Davidson is 63-28 at home under coach Watts.
•Coach Watts (ninth season) is the program's all-time winningest coach with a 132-113 record.
•This will be the Wildcats' 34th meeting with Wofford in the all-time series.
•They are 21-12 after last year's two-game split, and have wins in 14 of the last 16 meetings.
•Last time on the 'Cats' home floor (12/30/08), Davidson had four players score in double figures led by Lax's 24 in taking home an 83-68 victory.
•The Wildcats have hit the 80-point mark in four of the last seven meetings at home, all wins.
•Davidson has a seven-game home winning streak overall in the all-time series, including picking up the school's biggest league win of all-time, an 86-39 victory on Jan. 20, 2007.
Scouting the Terriers
•Wofford recently played at Chattanooga on Wednesday, suffering an 89-71 defeat on the road.
•Mahagony Williams dropped in a game-high tying 18 points to go along with eight rebounds.
•The forward has led the team in scoring five times and six times in rebounding.
•She registered a double-double, one of eight last year, last time at Davidson with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
•On the season, Williams is averaging 11.9 ppg and 7.9 rpg, good for 4th in the SoCon.
•Today's game is Wofford's eighth road game, sixth straight, in its first nine contests to open the season. They have played at Campbell, UNC Wilmington, Georgetown, Gardner-Webb, Western Carolina, Samford and Chattanooga.
•Wofford's lone win this year came at home vs. Norfolk State.
•Last time vs. the Wildcats, which was at home, the Terriers put three players in double figures, led by Natalie Gramblin's 20 points.
•Wofford hit 11 three-pointers in that game, finishing 11-for-22.
•Wofford returns eight of its 12 letterwinners, including four of its five starters from last season's 5-24 squad.

Davidson takes to the road for a non-conference tilt vs. Radford, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. The Wildcats will then take a Christmas break, before returning home on the 29th to face Newberry College at 7 p.m.
