Sanker, King Lead Wildcat Women at UNC Classic

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The Wildcat women's track and field team returned to action, competing at the Eddie and Joe Smith UNC Classic Saturday afternoon on the campus of the University of North Carolina.
Senior Caroline Sanker finished fourth in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:16.45, and classmate Emily King placed fifth in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:45.66.
Continuing strong performances in the distance events, freshman Jane Gay finished 18th in the mile with a time of 5:29.80.
Freshman Danielle Wright and senior Kim Colley turned in solid efforts for the 'Cats in the sprints. In the 200 meters, Colley finished 37th in a time of 27.11 and Wright placed 38th with a time of 27.15. Wright also finished 33rd in the 400 meters with a time of 1:01.96, and Colley was 34th with a time of 1:02.22.
Freshman Brooke Senken placed 32nd in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.27.
The Wildcats will return to action on Jan. 30, when they travel to the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn.
