Swimmers Return to Action in Tri-Meet at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. -- The Wildcat men's and women's swimming and diving teams returned to action in the new calendar year, dropping a pair of results each at a tri-meet with the University of South Carolina at Duke Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Devils defeated the Wildcat women 160.5-120.5 and the men 151-118. The University of South Carolina downed the Wildcat women 150-121 and the men by a margin of 157-116.
Sophomore Anna Stringfield finished in a second-place tie in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.40, along with Duke's Ashley Twichell.
Classmate Lindsey Martin finished second in the 50 free with a time of 24.00 and the 100 free with a time of 52.03.
On the men's side, sophomore Ben Lucas turned in a strong performance in the 200 breast with a time of 2:19.70, as did junior Caroline Curtiss who finished with a time of 2:34.49.
The Wildcats return to action, hosting the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs on Jan. 24 at 1 p.m.
