No. 75 M. Tennis Finishes Week With 5-2 SoCon Victory

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson men's tennis team finished off a strong week that saw them ranked for the first time in school history to start the week and then capped it off by picking up their fifth Southern Conference win with a 5-2 victory over visiting Georgia Southern on Sunday at the Knobloch Tennis Center.
No. 75 Davidson, who broke into the ITA ranks on Monday, ran its overall record to 12-4 and its league mark to 5-1. GSU fell under .500 at 8-9 and dropped to 4-3 in SoCon action.
After dropping the doubles point to start the match, the Wildcats came back with four straight-set wins at No. 1, 4, 5 and 6, and then sophomore Eric Noble capped the win off with a three-set victory over Joris De Weerdt for the 5-2 win.
Freshman Arie Hefter ran his overall singles record to 5-1 with yet another win, this time a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Mark Paetz. The freshman has rattled off a five-match win streak.
Sophomore Sam Burns remained perfect (5-0) when playing at the No. 4 position as he scored a 6-3, 7-5, and junior Scott Myers ran his team-best singles record to 14-2 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 5.
Davidson will head to play Elon on Apr. 2 at 2 p.m. for another SoCon match.
