BOONE, N.C. - Two Wildcats earned victories in their respective weight classes, but the Davidson wrestling team fell 37-8 at conference opponent Appalachian State Tuesday night.
Sophomore Ben Altman picked up his 20th victory of the year by posting a technical fall (18-2) over Frank Celorrio at 125 pounds.
That win made the team score 5-0 in favor of the Wildcats, but Davidson would not get another victory until senior Trebor Clavette took the mat at 174 pounds. Clavette got back to his winning ways by notching a 7-3 decision over Neal Martin, improving his record on the season to 21-5.
Davidson drops to 1-10 with the loss and 0-4 in the SoCon. The Mountaineers improve to 9-7 overall and 2-1 in the league.
The 'Cats finish off their conference schedule on the road at The Citadel Tuesday, Feb. 12, in a 7 p.m. dual meet.
