Peitz, Lane and Buttermore Receive CCSA Weekly Honors

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Three Wildcats received CCSA weekly awards after turning in impressive individual performances in the Wildcats' dual-meet with the Emory Eagles Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Geoffrey Peitz was named CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week, while freshman Ben Lane and junior Linnea Buttermore were named CCSA Men's and Women's Divers of the Week, for meets competed Oct. 27-Nov. 2, as selected by the conference office.
Peitz won a pair of events against the Eagles in a pair of CCSA-best times. He placed first in the 200 IM with a league-leading best time of 1:57.19 and swam leadoff on the winning 400 medley relay, along with junior Nate Ladner, freshman Joe Burquist and senior Andrew Carlson, against the Emory Eagles. The relay team won the 400 medley with a time of 3:30.21, beating their own time for a first place standing in conference this season.
Lane continued his impressive rookie season by setting a school record in the 3-meter diving event. His score of 315.30 breaks the old 3-meter record, set previously by Chris Wrobleski's score of 300.75 on Nov. 30, 2001, and is the best in the CCSA this season.
Buttermore won the 1-meter dive with a score of 202.50 and finished second to her teammate on the 3-meter with a score of 215.48.
Gardner-Webb's Elizabeth Ketterer was named CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week after medaling in four events to lead the Bulldogs to a win over America.
Also nominated for men's Swimmer of the Week: Stevin Caudill (Gardner-Webb) and Miguel Orellana (Howard).
Also nominated for women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week: Lindsey Martin (Davidson), Nzingha Murphy (Howard), Whitney Friend (Radford) and Katie Shaffer (Radford).
Ladner, sophomore Anna Stringfield and senior Stephannie McKinney were awarded the weekly honors after the Wildcats' wins over the College of Charleston for the week of Oct. 25.
