
Stringfield was named CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week
Three Wildcats Earn CCSA Swimmer of the Week Honors

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Coming off an impressive win over the College of Charleston, three members of the Davidson Wildcat men's and women's swimming and diving teams received Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association's weekly awards, with junior Nate Ladner, sophomore Anna Stringfield and senior Stephannie McKinney honored this week by the conference office.
Ladner was named CCSA Men's Swimmer of the week after winning four events to help the Wildcats to a 164-123 victory over the defending-champion Cougars Saturday at Cannon Natatorium. Ladner won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events by defeating the defending CCSA individual champion and also swam critical legs on two relays, including the winning 400 freestyle relay. With a winning time of 58.47 in the 100 breaststroke, Ladner placed first in the Conference's top 16 times, and he also notched a second place top 16 time, with a winning 2:11.21 in the 200 breaststroke, his fastest time of the season.
On the women's side, Stringfield and McKinney were named the CCSA Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week.
Stringfield's outstanding performance over the weekend helped the defending CCSA champion Wildcats go 2-0 in league competition with wins over North Carolina A&T, 86-58, and the College of Charleston, 184-111. Davidson opened their 2008-09 home season with Stringfield and Meagan Madden, Jessica Delgehausen and Caitlin Sheetz winning the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:13.20 Friday night against N.C. A&T. On Saturday, Stringfield returned with an individual win in the 200 freestyle (1:54.44), the top time in the conference this season, and the 500 freestyle (5:05.82), the second fastest time in the CCSA this year. She also swam the leadoff leg on the winning 400 medley relay.
McKinney won the 3-meter diving event against College of Charleston with a score of 222.45 to score points for the Wildcats in the team's win over the Cougars. Her score also notched a second place standing in the 3-meter event for the league's top 16 times.
Jordan Toopes was named the CCSA Men's Diver of the Week. Also nominated for men's Swimmer of the Week: Collin Burchins (Gardner-Webb), Greg Greer (College of Charleston) and James Goodwillie (VMI). For women's Swimmer of the Week: Cassie Tubb (College of Charleston), Victoria Cadge (FGCU) and Kate Keck (Radford). For women's Diver of the Week: Gaby Shaw (Florida Gulf Coast) and Katie Shaffer (Radford).
