DAVIDSON, N.C. – Head coach Caroline Price has announced the addition of Andrew Groslimond to the coaching staff as an assistant coach for the Davidson women's tennis program, recently.
Prior to coming to Davidson, he was a tennis instructor working for the Tennis Academy of the South for the past four years, which is run by his father in Atlanta, Ga.
In addition to his working at the academy, Groslimond recently was also a volunteer assistant coach for the Georgia Tech men's tennis team in the fall of 2006 through the spring of 2007.
A standout tennis player himself, Groslimond was a four-year member of the Rollins College men's tennis team in Winter Park, Fla. Twice, he helped lead the Tars deep into the Division II National Championships. In 2001, Groslimond was a member of the Tars team that won the National Championship. Then in 2004, he assisted in leading the team to the 2004 semifinals in the Division II National Championships.
Groslimond was ranked as high as 21st three different times (2001, 2003 & 2004) in doubles during his four-year playing career at the Division II level.
He graduated with a degree in Environmental Studies in 2004 from Rollins College. Upon his graduation, he started working at the Tennis Academy of the South.
Davidson enters its 27th year under the guidance of Price after finishing the 2008 campaign with an 19-6 overall mark and a trip to the finals in Southern Conference Tournament. The 19 wins were the most since the 2005 team earned 20 and it marked the fifth straight year the Wildcats have won 17 or more games.
