
Wildcat Women Pick up Second CCSA victory, Down College of Charleston in Dual-Meet Action

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Davidson Wildcats women's swimming and diving team won its second Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) meet of the season, defeating the College of Charleston Cougars, 141-102, in a dual-meet in Charleston, S.C., on Saturday afternoon, but the Wildcat men weren't as lucky, dropping a 136-88 decision to the Cougars.
The Wildcat women improve to 3-2 (2-0 in CCSA action) with their third straight victory, while the Wildcat men fall to 0-4 and are still searching for their first win.
Freshmen Lindsey Martin and Anna Stringfield won a pair of individual titles each to lead the Wildcat women to victory, while junior Kelsey Chisholm swept the diving events.
Martin took first in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 27.08 to remain undefeated in her rookie season and also touched the wall first in the 100-meter freestyle in a time of 58.99.
Stringfield won the 200-meter freestyle in a time of 2:07.13 and also claimed the title in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:27.72.
Chisholm won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events, with scores of 223.20 and 232.58, respectively.
Other individual winners on the women's side included junior Alanna Ream, who won the 200 fly in a time of 2:27.41, and freshman Ineke Stegger, who outtouched the field in a time of 2:27.63 in the 200 IM.
The women also won a pair of relay titles - the 400-medley relay and the 400-free relay. Freshmen McKensie Carr, Stegger, Emily Castle and Martin combined for a first-place time of 4:30.55 in the medley, while Stringfield, sophomore Caitlin Sheetz, freshman Jessica Delgehausen and Castle took first in the free with a time of 4:03.84.
On the men's side, senior Will Broughton placed first in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 8:44.94.
Junior Merritt Peele won the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 1:57.18, and junior Andrew Carlson took first in the 400-meters in a time of 4:14.67.
Freshman Ben Lucas finished first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:32.74.
The Wildcat swimming and diving teams will return to action on Fri., Nov. 9 as they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. for a 7 p.m. dual-meet with CCSA-foe Gardner-Webb.
