Amanda Dawson enters her third season as the assistant volleyball coach, assisting with travel, recruiting and camps.
Prior to coming to Davidson, Dawson served as the interim head volleyball coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania during the spring of 2006, directing all facets of the Division II program. That fall, she served as assistant coach, working with on-court training, recruiting, budgets, camps and travel.
Dawson also served as a student assistant volleyball coach at West Virginia University while fulfilling a medical redshirt during the 2002 season and then completed a strength and conditioning internship during the spring of 2003.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Dawson has coached at numerous camps across the east coast, including the Penn State Volleyball Express Camps, the Indiana University of Pennsylvania volleyball camps and the East Stroudsburg University volleyball camp, where she served as the Camp Director.
Dawson spent four years playing at the collegiate level, splitting her time between Indiana (Pa.) (2004-05), West Virginia (2001-03) and Winthrop University (2000).
At Indiana, she was a two-year letterwinner and a member of the NCAA Division II Regional Finalist team in 2004 and 2005.
She spent the 2003 season at West Virginia and her freshman season at Winthrop, lettering at both schools.
A 2005 graduate of Indiana (Pa.) with a B.A. in physical education and sport, Dawson excelled in the classroom as well. She was named to the Dean’s List in the fall of 2004 at Indiana (Pa.) and was a member of the scholar athlete team at West Virginia in the fall of 2002.
A native of Johnstown, Pa., Dawson was named to the 1999-2000 Pennsylvania Laurel Highlands All-Star Team and named first-team all-district and first-team all-state in both 1999 and 2000. She was also a member of the 1999-2000 Pennsylvania State Championship volleyball team.
