Lakevia Boykin enters her fourth season as an assistant coach and primary recruiting coordinator of the Davidson women’s basketball team, after joining the staff in June of 2017.

Since joining the Wildcats, Boykin has been critical in the team’s growth under Head Coach Gayle Fulks and has been a key recruiter for the program.

In her first season at Davidson, Boykin helped the ‘Cats finish with a 12-18 overall record, doubling the team’s win total from the previous season, and finishing 7-9 in Atlantic 10 conference play.

During the 2018-19 season, the Wildcats grew from that success, as the team finished tied for fourth in the A-10 standings after being picked to finish 11th in the preseason poll. That same year, Davidson finished with a program-best 10-6 mark in league play, and won the program’s first game in the Atlantic 10 Championship with a first round win over St. Bonaventure.

Boykin has continued to help the program improve, as the 2019-20 campaign saw the Wildcats finish with their second straight season with a winning record, at 16-15, and started off the season with a program-best 5-0 record to begin conference action.

Prior to Davidson, Boykin served as a video coordinator for the Wake Forest women’s basketball program, where she was a four-year letterwinner with the Demon Deacons from 2009-13.

As a student-athlete, Boykin played in each of the 130 games the Demon Deacons played during her four years with the program, setting the school record for most career games played in the process. As a senior, she finished second on the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game while totaling 1,309 points in her career, which put her 11th all-time in program history. Along the way, she also racked up 167 made three-pointers, which sits fifth in program history, and earned All-ACC honors in her junior and senior seasons.

After graduating from Wake Forest with a bachelor’s degree in communications, Boykin played professionally overseas. Most recently, she played in Germany before she returned to Wake Forest in 2016-17.
